Welcome to the 环境、社会 and Sustainability Department. Join us for interactive classes where you’ll learn how to combat the most pressing issues facing our planet and you’ll prepare for a successful and meaningful career across a wide range of professions.
You’ll understand how physical and natural aspects of the world integrate with the social, 文化, 经济, and political aspects of the world to recognize and redress issues related to environmental racism and climate justice.
Our programs offer a rich integrative experience thanks to a diverse group of faculty trained in a wide range of disciplines, 包括城市规划, 地质, 天文学, 地理信息系统, 物理, 工程, human 文化 diversity and environmental justice.
You can choose from the following majors that represent the spectrum of science and policy, 包括:
- 环境科学 – Focus on how science can improve the natural world. This major offers concentrations in 环境科学与政策, 地球与行星系统, and Secondary Education in 地球与行星系统.
- Environmental Studies and Social Justice- Examine the connections between the science and policy aspects of global environmental problems and issues of equity and justice.
- 地理空间与数据分析 – 应用 advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to solve complex problems.
- 前期项目 - This two- or three-year Pre-Engineering program provides pathways to 工程 degrees at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 麻省海事学院, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
